Celebrating over 50 years!
The Southern Dance Festival is an established non-profit dance competition that has been running since 1971! Beginning with humble origins at a venue in Bentleigh, the festival aims to provide invaluable experiences for young dancers in a supportive, inclusive, and fun environment.
Since its inception, the Southern Dance Festival has been committed to supporting children who are less fortunate. Over the years the festival has partnered with many charities. We proudly donate to The Miranda Foundation, a registered charity based in Chelsea Heights that raises funds for Monash Children’s Hospital and children's cancer research projects.
The festival is led by a dedicated committee whose goal is to create a competition that fosters inclusivity, friendship, and a lifelong passion for dance.
In 2026 we are proud to host:
- Troupe Weekend: The Drum Theatre in Dandenong on September 12th - 13th.
- Solos/duos/trios will be hosted at Carwatha College, Noble Park September 19th- 22nd.
